Privacy Policy

Short version: Layouto does not collect or transmit what you type. All layout detection and correction happen locally on your Mac. The only trace of your typing it keeps is a note of the words whose automatic correction you undid, stored on your Mac.

Data we collect

None. Layouto collects no personal data. In App Store terms, our App Privacy label is Data Not Collected. There are no analytics, no tracking, no advertising identifiers, and no third-party SDKs that receive your data.

What you type

To detect a wrong keyboard layout, Layouto reads key codes through a listen-only system event tap and renders them under the enabled layouts. This happens in memory, on your device only, and the keys of a word are discarded as soon as it is resolved. What you type is never logged, never sent over the network, and never shared with us or anyone else.

There is one exception, and it stays on your Mac. When you undo an automatic correction with double Shift, Layouto saves that word and how many times you have undone it, and after three undos it stops correcting the word. The words it has stopped correcting are listed in Settings, where you can remove them.

Spell checking

Word validation uses Apple's built-in local spell checker (NSSpellChecker) on your Mac. No text leaves your device for this.

Network use

Correction works entirely offline. The only network activity is subscription purchase and validation, which is handled by Apple through the App Store using StoreKit. Apple processes those transactions under Apple's own privacy policy; we do not receive your name, email, or payment details.

Local storage

Your preferences, My Words, text expansions, and the words whose correction you undid are stored locally in the app's sandbox container on your Mac. You can edit or remove them at any time in the app. Deleting the app removes this data.

Children

Layouto is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.
